Location of Class
Unless otherwise indicated, all classes are held at the Central MN American Red Cross in St. Cloud, MN. Click here for diections.
Course Requirements
Dress comfortably. All courses include practice sessions requiring strenuous activity. If you will be attending a refresher course, please remember to bring your existing certification and your textbook. If you have a medical condition or disability that might prevent you from taking part in the practice sessions, call our office at (320) 251-7641 to discuss accommodations.
Age Requirements
Age requirements, if any, are noted in the Course Description. Any minimum age requirements must be met before the course ends.
Expired Certificates
CPR certificates are valid for one year from the course completion date. First aid and Lifeguard Training certificates are valid for 3 years. There is a 1-year grace period for renewing expired certifications; the expiration date on the certificate is the end of the validity for a given certification. However, you still qualify for a refresher course up to one year from your expieration date. When you contact our office please state your expieration date, and we will work with you to find a training session which meets your needs.
Training for Industry and Organizations
Any course can be taught at your business site, as well as at the Red Cross office. All our courses meet the guidelines for training stipulated in OSHA standards. For additional information call (320) 251-7641.
Contact Hours - CEU's
CEU's are available upon request at the time of registration. We require an additional service fee of $10.00 per course for contact hours. Please include this payment with your registration and note this on your check or registration form.
Lost Certification Cards
If your certification is current, we can provide a replacement card. There is a $5.00 verification and replacement fee.
Refunds & Cancellations
must be made at least two business days before the course start time. A $5.00 administrative fee (per student) is non-refundable ($20.00 administrative fee for instructor courses) for course cancellations. Our business hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. If you do not give our office the appropriate notice of cancellation, you will forfeit your entire course fee.
Classes may be Cancelled
Courses may be cancelled due to bad weather or an instructor emergency. Courses will also be cancelled two days before the course date due to insufficient enrollment (less than 5 students). Complete refunds or credit slips are given if a class is cancelled. For weather cancellations, we typically follow the St. Cloud and/or Monticello School district's lead; If they cancel after-school activities, we will generally do the same. Transfer
If you are enrolled in a full course, you will be allowed one transfer to another date. This must be done 24 hours prior to the start of the course. If you are enrolled in a refresher course you will also be allowed one transfer, but YOU are responsible for any lapse in your certification. CPR certifications are valid for 1 year after the completion date, and First Aid is valid for 3 years after completion.
Late Arrival
All classes will start at the scheduled time. If you are late, Instructors may not allow you to remain in the class session.
Scholarships
A small portion of each course fee has been set aside to help provide a scholarship fund for individuals who need help to pay for a course. If you have economic need please contact our office for details concerning scholarships at (320) 251-7641.
How To Register
- To register please call the American Red Cross at (320) 251-7641. Register early! Courses are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Registration can also be done in person at the Central MN Chapter located at 1301 W. St Germain Street, St.Cloud, MN 56301. For information on mailing your payment please call (320) 251-7641. Please note that payment for enrollment must be received 48-hours prior to the course start date.
- Weather Cancellations: enrolled participants will receive notification of cancellation by phone, the day of the class, before 3:00pm for weekday courses, and before 5:00pm Friday for weekend courses.
