Water Safety Instructor Courses
This course will train Instructor Candidates to teach in the Learn to Swim Program and Water Safety Programs.
Prerequisites:
- Must be 16 years old by end of course and have completed Fundamentals of Instructor Training
- Please bring legal ID to first class

Lifeguard Instructor Course
This course will train instructor candidates to teach the Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professioanl Rescuer, AED Essentials, Oxygen Administration for the Professional Rescuer, Preventing Disease Transmission, Community Water Safety and Basic Water Rescue.
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 17 years of age on or before the last scheduled day of class
- Possess a Fundamentals of Instructor Training certificate issued within the last year. Or possess a Health and Safety Instructor Authorization Certificate
- Successfully complete the precourse session; this includes passing the precourse written exam with a score of 80% or better and demonstrating competency in the precourse skills and scenarios evaluation.
Note: Must attend all class dates listed to receive certification.
Lifeguard Review Course
Lifeguarding Review (refresher) Course includes review of skills for Lifeguarding, CPR-PR, AED, and First Aid. This format optimizes the participant’s ability to successfully complete the knowledge and skills evaluations. Preparing for the final written exam is the responsibility of the participant and some review will be covered in the course.
Prerequisites:
- Current Red Cross Certification in both Lifeguard Training/First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
- Please bring your certification cards to class
Lifeguard Training Course
This course will provide candidates with the skills and knowledge to become an American Red Cross certified Lifeguard. Lifeguards will be trained to prevent and respond to emergencies.
Prerequisites:
- Be at least 15 years of age on or before the last scheduled day of class
- Swim 300 yards continuously
- Timed-Skills Test: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to surface, swim back to starting point with the 10 pound object and exit water using ladder or steps within 1 minute 40 seconds

Waterfront Lifeguarding Courses
The purpose of this class is to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies both in a pool and at a water front environment. This class will also include the regular lifeguard certification as well as waterfront lifeguarding.
Prerequisites:
- Must be 15 years old by end of course and have completed Fundamentals of Instructor Training
- Pass the precourse swim test; Swim 550 yards continuously; Swim 20 yds, surface dive 7-10ft pick up 10lb brick, return to surface and swim back to start point with brick and exit pool within 1min 40 sec.; Swim 5yds, submerge and retrieve 3 dive rings placed 5yds apart in 4-7ft of water. Resurface and swim 5 yds to the side
Note: Must attend all class dates listed to receive certification.
CPR/AED for Lifeguards
This class is perfect for lifeguards, dentists, nurses and first responders. It includes CPR, rescue breathing and obstructed airway skills, two rescuer CPR, use of a resuscitation mask, a bag-valve-mask and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This course is equivalent to the American Heart Health Care Provider course. CPR/AED for Lifeguards valid for 1 year and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider valid for 2 years.

Important Information – Pre-registration and prepayment is required for all classes. Space is limited. Businesses registering their employees are required to make payment or billing arrangements BEFORE the class starts. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. Accepting: Visa, Master Card, American Express.
Refunds and Cancellations – A refund of the course fee minus a $20.00 administration fee will ONLY be given if registrant cancels within 72 hours prior to the first class day. If a registrant does not pass the pre-test, a refund will be given minus the $20.00 administration fee and return of any books.
